Softball Again, Yay!

Hi again fellow softball enthusiasts!  We’re back here at the Bishop’s Collar Softball Ball Team’s official team blog!  Yay!    And just for coming to read about our blog here’s a picture of fun and softball and drinking, but not too much drinking!

We’re going to have a great year and beat those mean nasty Bensons who are in our division because of something our other rival, the Zoo did.  Oh, and we get Carolyn and Elia back, yay!  But we lost Doug and Jake.  Boo!

And we’re 2-1 so we’re on pace for 130 wins this year!  I’m kidding.  That’s just silly.

Yay! Playoffs! Go Collar!

Whoo! We had a great two games this week — well, except for those louts from Franklin — to help us get ready for the playoffs!! Everyone played great and Spence didn’t get hurt at all. 😉

First, we beat those pesky Pen & Pencil guys by one run on Monday! It was a great game. We fell behind 😦 but came back strong and everyone chipped in and had a piece of the comeback. (Well, not Spence, but he didn’t get hurt!)

Tuesday, we had to finish that rainout game with Franklin, you know, the one when Whitmarsh stomped around in the puddles and insisted we should keep playing. My God, Spence would have killed himself out there. That was a torn hamstring waiting to happen. But, just like a little kid, RW called us bad names (that P-word) and made everyone feel bad. So we got in our cars and left before the sun could come out.

Like I said, we finished that game and Franklin won 19-11 or something. Whatever. We are so done with those guys. And Spence only suffered a bruised labia in the game, so he should be good to go by Monday. Like I said, we don’t care any more about Franklin because I’ve watched enough Center City Softball to know a winner when I see one. And I think that dreamy Art Museum team 😉 is going crush Franklin. Go Art! Go Museum! Go Sports!

As for us, we play the Tap Room and that icky Benson in the first playoff game on Monday. They are a lot better than at the start of the season, but we can still beat them. And we WILL beat them! 🙂 Then, it’s on to the World Series and a prolonged get-together with Art!! Can’t wait. 😉

So, let’s stay ready, team. Spence, don’t do anything stupid. In fact, don’t do anything. This is our year. I can just feel it. Go Collar! All the way! Yay us!

Hoagiefest!!!!

Tonight is HOAGIEFEST!  Yay!  And it deserves ALL CAPS cause it’s super-uber-YAY!  And we get to beat the Art Museum!  Triple Yay!  Go Collar!  Go team!  Go sports and puppy dogs and rainbows!  Dairy 2 after the game, and bring your hungry shoes!  I assume you’ll already be wearing your drinking ones!  Unless you’re Jeff Flynn who can’t afford shoes.

Hoagie Me! Hoagie Me! Hoagie Me!

It was sure disappointing on Tuesday when we got rained out against those Franklin guys and then had to listen to them whining about it. 😦 Yay, Collar! Boo, Franklin!

But that’s over now and you know what’s next on the schedule, of course? Yes, it’s Hoagiefest! Yay, hoagies! Once again this season, the Collar — the best darn and funnest team in the league! — is hosting our annual get-together where everyone has a hoagie and some beer and then after it gets dark we play hide the salami. 😮

We had so much fun last year that the parts I remember were some of our best times ever. (Yay, good times!) This year, we’ve scheduled Hoagiefest for next Tuesday, June 21. We told everyone it’s because that’s the summer solstice, which is the longest day of the year, when it takes forever to get dark so you can play you-know. The real reason is that the Tap doesn’t play that night and maybe that icky Benson won’t show up. I hope Al can make it, though. I’d send a cab for him. 😉 Anyway, the Tap is off that night and so is one of those other teams that I forget.

Everyone other team is playing, and LaNiece and I thought it would be a real sportsmanship thing to finish our game and then take the hoagies and everything from Edgeley 8 to Dairy 2 where the Franklin is playing that night against the Pencil. So, mark it down. Hoagiefest at Dairy 2!

Tonight, Franklin

Alright team, tonight we play the hated Franklin Institute on Edgely 8.  We already beat them once and we can do it again.  This team talks a lot of trash and I’d love to shove it back in their faces.  But win or lose, always booze, so we’ll be at the Collar afterwards.  Yay!  Phyllis said she’s buying.  Double yay!  Okay, as always, Go Collar!  Go sports!

Tonight’s Wheel of Incapacity for Spencer predicts that he won’t play because of:

We had a nice win over the Pen and Pencil on Monday. Spence didn’t get hurt again, although he said he felt some tightness in his hamstring. 😦

Hoping for good things against the Tap Room tonight. They can be mean, and, well, Benson is Benson. But let’s try our darndest and get after it. Yay, Collar!!

Our Great Idea

Hi, everyone. Our Tuesday game against the Zoo looks kind of iffy because of all this darn rain 😦

But let’s hope we play. Yay!

Wanted to let everyone know that we’ve been kind of kicking around ideas to raise money for Hoagiefest (Yay! Yay!) and maybe a league get together at the Collar (with free appetizers!).

Anyway, Laniece and I thought about it and here’s what we’ve got: BC Panties!!!

We got the first shipment and I think everyone in the whole CCSL will want to get some for themselves or someone they care very deeply about. 😉

To kick off the sale, L and I will be modeling them postgame until the end of the season. There are a lot of different colors and styles. Something for everyone.

So, let’s all support the softball league and Hoagiefest and free appetizers. You’ll be glad you did.
